5 Date Activities and What They Say About You

Dating is not just for getting to know a love interest but for sharing experiences throughout a relationship. Whether it's the food you ate, the game you played or the place you visited, dates leave lasting impressions. If you feel stuck or are looking for a better way to date, check out these creative ideas.

Date Activities and What They Mean

Activity-based dating creates a lot of fun because you can be active together and focus on having a good time. But do you know what your plans say about you?

1. Go cycling

Taking your relationship on the road poses the opportunity to make new shared memories while also presenting the chance to strengthen your bond. Plan a leisurely bike ride together or sign up for a cycling race. This could be a great way to spend time together, maintain fitness and challenge each other.

What a cycling date says about you: If he takes you on a cycling date, he wants a woman he can share experiences with and is trying to see if you can keep up. If you can, things will definitely start to escalate.

2. Take hiking up a notch with geocaching

Hiking a trail and enjoying nature can be a totally relaxing activity. With just the two of you and mother nature, it's the perfect time to be candid with each other. If you think a walk is too boring, try geocaching instead of just wandering aimlessly. Geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt perfect for couples with a GPS or a geocaching app.

What a geocaching date says about you: Hiking can set you apart from the countless other potential romantic interests in your date's life. Hiking is for couples who are athletic and like the outdoors. Geocaching will also help if there's a lull in the conversation, because it gives you something else to concentrate on.

3. Have a sing-along

Singing your heart out is the best way to move past your inhibitions, get comfortable with each other and make great memories. If one of you can play the guitar, sing through your favorite songs together. If you neither of you play an instrument, visit a karaoke bar or invest in a karaoke-based video game.

What a sing-along date says about you: Some dates, like watching a movie together, don't allow the same interaction a sing-along will. This kind of date also lets you see how your date behaves when they are in the spotlight.

4. Take your partner ice skating

If it's the middle of winter, find a local rink and hit the ice with your partner. Hold hands and laugh as you almost fall over. This gives you a way to get to know your partner and see if they have a competitive side.

What an ice-skating date says about you: If a guy takes you on an ice skating date, he wants an excuse to hold hands romantically. Chances are he's good at ice skating if he's the one to suggest it.

5. Camp for the weekend

If it's difficult to go camping for the weekend, set up a campsite in your backyard. Get a tent, roll out your sleeping bags and tell ghost stories while you roast marshmallows over the fire pit. This is a simple date night idea that requires very little planning.

What a camping date says about you: A camping date requires advance preparation, so appreciate the thought put into it. Camping is also a very personal and private experience, and it says a lot about the status of your relationship.

Whether it's your first date or not, these creative and unique date activities will keep your relationship healthy and long-lasting.
