5 Steps to Make Your Profile Stand Out

Online dating is great. You feel more relaxed. You can be in comfy PJ's and still have an intellectual (and/or flirty) conversation. You can even have a midnight snack in front of the computer while chatting away. Everything is just perfect… except for one thing: your profile isn't getting noticed as much as you'd like.

Not getting enough responses from potential matches? Maybe it's your wifi lagging, or, maybe, you need to update your dating profile to level up in the dating game.

Don't be hard on yourself, though. You are lovely (if your wifi is actually lagging, we feel your pain). Follow these five tips to show the dating world exactly how lovely you are:

1. Aim to make an impression in 3 seconds

Your profile picture is the very first thing a potential match sees when browsing. First impressions are important, especially online. Think of your profile picture as a headline to an article. If a match is scrolling through dozens of headlines, you want yours to be eye-catching so they are compelled to want to know more.

Take a good photo of yourself with your best smile, and without any distracting elements around you. Don't forget - the person who visits your profile is interested in you much more than your friends or pet.

2. Promote yourself

Don't be afriad to be a little boasty. A little humble-brag never hurt anyone. Promote yourself on your profile. Are you adventurous? A pet lover? A movie enthusiast? Showcase some key highlights about yourself that you think your ideal match would respond to.

3. Re-read your profile

Edit your bio before publishing online. Typos and grammatical errors come off as lazy, and your matches will pick up on that.

4. Don't lie

Honesty is the foundation of a trusting relationship. If you fail to do that online, it will lead to disappointment when you meet in person. Don't lie on your profile, and don't catfish.

5. Be real and be yourself

You don't have to convey yourself the way you do on LinkedIn. Don't forget that you're not applying for a job, and you should avoid sounding too uptight.

Describe yourself the way you truly see yourself, and if a date is right for you, he/she will appreciate your self-authenticity, and that will be something meaningful for the both of you if your relationship develops.

Apply these tips for a surefire way of making your profile stand out. With just a little time on your profile, you'll get a lot of time with your match to-be!
