6 Things Single People Are Tired of Hearing

Being single can be unfortunate -- especially when it's not by choice. If you or someone you know has been single for a long time, it can be annoying to hear the same relationship questions.

Here's a list of the top six things single people are tired of hearing.

Are You Seeing Someone?

"Are you seeing anyone?"

Everyone from long-lost friends from high school to old neighbors and family friend are bound to ask this dreaded question -- especially around the holidays. This question can make any encounter awkward, and the person has heard it many times before. Don't even open this can of worms.

How Are You Single?

"How are you still single?"

They are probably still wondering the same thing. Even if it's meant to be a compliment, it's still not something that should be said to someone's face. It's best to avoid this question

There are also reasons for people to want to stay single. They could be pursuing a career or don't want to deal with the drama and stress that comes with being in a relationship. Maybe they aren't ready to make an emotional commitment at the moment.

It will happen when you least expect

"It'll happen when you least expect it."

What if that person has been looking for a long time? It's perfectly normal for someone to seek out a relationship. Telling someone to "stop expecting it" is discouraging to individuals interested in coupling up.

You need to get out more

"You just need to get out more."

Dating can be scary and overwhelming. For shy people, it can be hard to talk to someone they don't know. They might be trying their best to put themselves out there but are having a hard time doing it. Either way, "getting out more" can be difficult when you are unable to put the time or financial investment into meeting someone.

other fish in the sea

"There are plenty of fish in the sea."

That just means that there's more to sort through before finding a suitable partner.

Being too picky

"Maybe you're being too picky."

This statement is also an implication that singles should lower their standards in order to be in a relationship. Casual flings are fun, but there comes a point in life when people want to settle down. Besides, being selective is understandable when someone is looking for long-term commitment.
