How to Transform into Who You Really Want to Be

You often come across people who live life to the fullest and excel in their respective fields. You appreciate how successful they are in life while wishing to have the same level of conviction and drive. However, instead of bringing a change in your life, this just makes you envy their lifestyle. It's time for you to transform into who you really want to be!

Humans are meant to grow throughout their lifetimes, but it cannot happen on its own. You have to work towards it. So instead of waiting around for some miracle, plan and act on it. Become who you really want to be and stop dreaming about things that may never come true. Here's how you can turn your life around.

1. Take a look inwardly

Start with assessing your personality and examining the thoughts that constantly fill your head. Identify any habits that are keeping you from progressing in life. Keep them in check and don't let your weaknesses become an obstacle on the path to success. Many people focus so hard on the end result that they fail to identify what they are dealing with.

If you have anxiety or another mental health issue that's stopping you, don't be afraid to ask for help or visit a professional.

2. Detach emotionally 

If you get very upset about that state of things, you'll be paralyzed. Take your emotions out of the equation. Get to work and prepare yourself for change. You cannot transform yourself if you keep regretting or looking back at past mistakes. Emotions can stunt your growth. Think of yourself as a piece of clay that has to be molded into a new shape. 

3. Practice without a break

You can only bring change to your life if you are relentlessly working on your goals. Take your transformation seriously and continue to practice and push through. Whether it's about transforming your body, your personal life or your career, make it routine. After all, practice makes perfect. 

4. Set realistic goals

While planning your transformation, remember that your goals must be realistic and achievable. You can't change something overnight. You can't go from a mail room employee to a CEO in a day. You won't shed 50 pounds in a week. Don't be too hard on yourself and make the most of your strengths. Start slow -- eventually you will get there. You can acknowledge your limits without letting them stop you. 

5. Surround yourself with honest people

It's extremely important that the people around you are honest. You don't want friends who agree to whatever you say or hesitate giving feedback. When you surround yourself with honest people, they can help you become the best version of yourself. Ask for suggestions from those who never shy away from speaking their mind and those who know what's good/bad for you.

6. Step out of your comfort zone

Unless (and until) you step out of your comfort zone, you'll stay stagnant. If you stick to same the things day-in and day-out, or are reluctant try new things, that non-choice will continue to define you. It's time to shed your inhibitions and be someone new.

7. Incorporate good habits 

If you wish to be more energetic and are willing to bring a change, one of the most basic steps is to incorporate good habits that bring positivity in your life. Activities like reading books or meditation are some excellent ways to open your mind. This would also help you gain a fresh perspective. It will also keep your mind calm, thereby enabling you to stay focused. 

8. Live a disciplined life

A common trait that's found in every successful person is discipline. People who are dedicated towards their goals have no time to waste. Every moment is precious for them. If you want to transform yourself into a successful person or someone more firm, the key is to bring discipline in your life and act responsibly.
